WATS was established in 1989 in response to the increasing incidence of HIV/AIDS among women in Philadelphia and nationwide. At a time when women are increasingly an at-risk group for HIV infection, WATS offers nearly 20 years of experience providing comprehensive, high quality HIV education and prevention services to women and their partners in the City of Philadelphia.

These services include:

  • enhanced prevention counseling
  • on-going prevention groups
  • free anonymous or confidential Rapid HIV testing and counseling services
  • family planning counseling
  • pregnancy testing
  • syphilis testing
  • referral services
  • outreach and education workshops and training
  • distribution of safer sex materials

Services are provided to women and men over 13 years of age.
HIV Prevention services are offered in a number of community locations.
