Three parenting groups and a monthly Saturday family recreational activity are offered to 60-70 parents/caregivers with at least one child aged birth to five. Services are primarily for teen and young adult parents living in North Philadelphia, however referrals from other areas of the city and DHS referrals are accepted. Likewise, older parents and those with children aged six through seventeen who are referred to our program are not excluded. Groups are led by a social worker and meet for 10 sessions to explore caring for oneself and understanding, guiding and nurturing one's children. Individual referral and follow-up for enrolled families are available and include office visits, telephone contact, home visits and advocacy.
