JOB SUMMARY
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), Division of Disease Control (DDC) is tasked with the operation and maintenance of PhilaVax, the Immunization Information System (IIS) for the City of Philadelphia. PhilaVax’s primary mission is to collect and maintain immunization records for the City of Philadelphia. Information collected by PhilaVax is utilized by providers within the City and by partner programs within PDPH. The DDC uses IIS data to help prepare for public health emergencies and provide education to the community on how to stay safe and healthy.
The IIS Support Assistant Analyst will provide direct support to the IIS Senior Analyst. Their primary workload will revolve around the tracking, reviewing, converting, and uploading of flat file data for processing in the IIS. They will also provide support for ad-hoc requests, and work with the II Senior Analyst to develop methods for detecting and removing duplicate patients in the IIS. The IIS Support Analyst may also be asked to work on special projects or to help complete grant related work as necessary. The IIS support analyst may also be asked to participate in field operations where their support is deemed necessary, including, but not limited to COVID-19 immunization clinics, HEP-A immunization clinics or other mass clinics or trainings as needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Responsibilities/Duties
• Assist in reviewing and managing immunization flat files
• Converting flat file formats into HL7 messages
• Assist in uploading immunization data to the IIS
• Assist in correcting data from incoming files
• Assist IIS Senior Analyst in development of scripts for processing files
• Assist in special projects as requested
• Provide routine deduplication reports
• Work with IIS analyst and IIS Interoperability Coordinator to develop deduplication scripts
• Provide reports to Deputy IIS and IIS Manager as requested
• Be able to fill core duties of IIS Senior Analyst on a limited temporary basis
• Provide ad-hoc reports as needed

Qualifications

Education
• A Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Informatics, and any other IIS or Informatics related field

Skills/Experience
• 1 year of experience as an analyst
• Ability to code/create basic scripts
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated knowledge of Java Script
• Basic familiarity with Python
• Demonstrated knowledge of SQL
• Must understand relational databases.
• Basic familiarity with HL7
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Must be able to work independently
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must be willing to assist in a public health emergency
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Work Environment:
Standard office setting at workstation and periodic use of office equipment. This position will initially be fully remote and will transition to in-person work in accordance with public health guidance. Will be required to report to office to receive work-laptop and other equipment, as necessary.

Position Type and Work Schedule:
Full time position, typical hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Flex office schedule options available with supervisor approval.

Travel:
Some travel may be necessary provided that public health guidance allows it.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 25lbs.

Salary and Benefits
