Through a contract with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Maternal, Child and Family Health (MCFH), HFP provides technical assistance to MCFH and serves as the training provider for all MCFH-funded programs. Consistent with its training philosophy, HFP works closely with MCFH to define and communicate program expectations, implement performance standards and support quality improvement in delivery of services to the public.
HFP provides core training for newly hired front-line workers as well as continued professional development for all program staff on early child development, case management, trauma informed care, and a variety of other topics as determined through needs assessment and provider feedback. All sessions are based on adult learning principles, are interactive and employ a variety of modalities including lecture, demonstration, case studies, role-plays, visual aids, and training games.
Training for managers and supervisors is tailored to the audience and is provided on an as-needed basis. Topics may include reflective supervision, leadership, communication, planning and facilitating meetings, setting goals, developing program plans, managing time, delegating responsibility, addressing secondary trauma, evaluating performance and building a team.
